dérive_sonore for art's birthday //





That should just about explain everything. Wednesday the 17th January here in Montreal we are celebrating Art's Birthday -- declared one tripped_out day, probably in the '60s by Robert Filiou of Fluxus as having taken place (art's birthday, that is) some 2 million years ago when some ape_like being dropped a sponge into a bucket of water. Don't ask why. Just get out & show up with your portable CD ghettoblaster if you are in the ville... we'll drift and play works composed for the event by I8U, Tim Hecker, Fishead & saibotuk.

This is part of an attempt to mobilize the staid format of "presentation-style" Upgrades & attempt to invoke some participatory (flash) mob_like action into the city... will it work...? I don't really know...

Also participating are Oboro & StudioXX with performances, hot chocolate & hot wine. Some more infos [PDF].

17h45 – 18h30 ///// Départ d'Oboro, du parcours psychogéographique sonore, organisé par UpgradeMtl, avec musique expérimentale et électronique de : I8U, Fishead, Tim Hecker, Saibotuk.

18h30 – 19h30 ///// Rendez-vous au Carré St-Louis où Jasa Baka et Tyr Jami (Parlour Treats) nous attendent pour une courte performance festive et colorée (**apportez chapeaux de fête et lampes de poche**). Parlour Treats est un duo farfelu composé des deux soeurs Jasa Baka et Tyr Jami. Elles vous invitent à une performance festive autour de l'imaginaire du gâteau et de l'enfance. Essayez de venir en attraper un morceau!
